Hi, I am afraid I need to take a little break from blogging as I have some personal things I need to turn my attention too. I will be back soon, and for those who are waiting for their Sagittarius crystal blog, I will still post it, just a bit later. Take care :)
Health and Happiness
Jan - QQ
Apologies for being late this month, life is manic at the moment! I blame Mercury Retro, I'll be glad when it's passed.
So this month's blog is about synthetic vs natural, I promise this is the last time I will bang on about this but I just had to drag my soapbox out one more time. Last week I got some Common Opal in stock, it was the first time I had seen it in the flesh and it was a very unassuming stone.....
Common Opal available here
...but when you hold it up to the light you can see oranges and yellows glowing inside the crystal.
Here is a bit of information about Common Opal, it comes in a variety of colours, the above being the white specimen. It's energy is purifying and cleansing, especially to your etheric body, it is associated with the angelic realm and is an ideal gift to leave with a wish for your favourite angel. It is also useful for drawing out dis-ease that is caused by painful emotions being buried deep within due to previous abuse. It helps you to face these issues and release them. Common Opal encourages positivity and heightens psychic abilities.
Now I grant you that it is not as glamorous as it's synthetic counterpart. Below is a piece of Opalite I picked up over a year ago in the city from a crystal stall, this stone, if you can call it that is what sent me off on my original quest to learn more about synthetic crystals....
Opalite is in fact a trade-name for a man-made stone. It is usually made of plastic or resin, you can feel it is not a mineral. The play-of-color is created from inclusions of cellophane or similar material. Sadly many retailers sell the Common Opal under the name of Opalite, which creates even more confusion.
I think it is such a shame that people have given this synthetic piece of glass healing properties, I feel it reflects badly on wonderful realm of natural healing stones.
Happy solar return Scorpio!
The Scorpio character is passionate yet sensitive. At your best you can be couragous and highly intuitive, but when that scorpion tale rises you can become ruthless, secretive and jealous. So here are some crystal suggestions to help keep your stinger under control....
Malachite and more information is available here
Malachite has a transforming energy, it can rid you of negativity, helping you to realise and confront the things that are blocking you spiritually and emotionally, assisting you in releasing these tensions instead of internalising them thus creating dis-ease. Malachite can also give you the courage and confidence to reach out for your goals
Rhodochrosite and more information available here
Scorpios are very sensitive and easily hurt, you can hold on to painful feelings turning them into resentments that can run deep, Rhodocrosite is soothing and empowering, it gently stimulates the heart chakra helping you to release the sadness and anger and encourages you to move on. It is also useful for those Scorpios who have a tendancy to use sex as a weapon against their partners, as it helps you to release the old hurts that are the underlying cause of such behaviour.
Scepter Quartz is available here
Sex is an incredibly important part of the Scorpio nature and the Sceptre Quartz, with its phallic symbolism is a perfect crystal that can keep your sexual energies in the light, it has the ability to transform sex from a basic animal instinct into a form of spiritual alchemy, heightening your experience of your partner.
APACHE TEAR OBSIDIAN
Apache Tear Obsidian and more information available here
If the worst has happened and your passion has caused you to lash out and sting someone, use Apache Tear Obsidian to help you to calm your emotions and find it in your heart to reach out and ask for forgiveness. This translucent form of Obsidian has the ability to gently ground your passionate energies and help you to work through negative emotions such as anger and jealousy.
Other useful crystals for Scorpios

Happy solar return Libra!
As a Libran personality you love to have hamony and tranquility in your life, and to surround yourself with beautiful friends and possessions. But life has a habit of throwing us all 'curve balls', so here is a list of crystals to keep at hand for when you feel your scales starting to swing.
Opal is your traditional birthstone, precious Opal is a stunning but also powerful stone. It intensifies emotional states, both positive and negative. Obviously if you are happy and projecting your best qualities of charm and diplomacy you're on to a winner, but if your darker, more moody side is peeking through, it might be better to put your more precious Opal to one side. Opals can be great teachers, helping you to recognise where your more negative emotions are causing harm to you and others, however its lessons can be severe if you are reticent about your shadow side and unwilling to do the inner work that Opal is asking of you. If you are susceptable to this crystal's strong powers but still want to work with your shadow, I suggest you reach for the Common Opal which has a much gentler energy and it less likely to 'throw you on your butt!'
