Happy Solar Return Gemini!

Below is a list of crystals that the dual personality of the Gemini will find helpful. The information has been adapted from The Crystal Zodiac by Judy Hall, author of the Crystal Bible. It is just some of what is written for your Sun Sign so if you would like to learn more I strongly recommend you get a copy of the book as it is very informative, also covering Moon Signs and Ascendants.


AGATE

There are many types of agate, but the banded agates such as Blue Lace, Brazilian and Botswana are most helpful to the Gemini. Remember to avoid the brightly coloured dyed stones as the energies in these crystals have been seriously reduced due to the chemicals in the heavy duty dyes that are used.
Agate is grounding and encourages you to pay attention to the details while still seeing the bigger picture and it is invaluble in avoiding the nervous tension that Gemini's are prone to. Also it can help you to integrate the duality of your personality.


TOURMALINE

Of all the colours that Tourmaline come in Gemini's will find brown Tourmaline the most useful as it is grounding and will help you to focus on practical matters. Toumaline is also a great crystal for the duality of the Gemini personality as it helps to balance the two sides of the brain and integrate your inner and outerselves. It also draws off negative energies and stabalizes your tendency to fly off in too many directions at once.

CHRYSOCOLLA

Gemini's are great communicators and you can make intuitive connections and assumptions that are very perceptive. However, you sometimes share these thoughts without thinking of the consequences. Chrysocolla can help you know when to speak and when it might be better to stay silent.

KNOW YOUR CITRINE QUARTZ - Natural vs Common

Is your Citrine Quartz natural or heat-treated? How can you tell the difference?
Most of the Citrine on the market is lemon yellow in colour, this Citrine is also known  as 'heat-treated' or  'common' Citrine. These common Citrine crystals are in fact Amethyst that have turned yellow through being exposed to high temperatures, this can occur naturally within the Earth before mining or it can be done artificially in an oven.

If you look closely at the image below you can see that the Amethyst used for this pendant has an area of slight yellow  on the right hand side of the stone where it must have come into contact with a heat source.

Sadly it is hard to tell if the common Citrine has been formed naturally or artificially. It is easy though to see the difference between common and natural Citrine Quartz. as the next image shows. Natural Citrine has a distinct smokey golden colour and is generally a clearer crystal with fewer fractures running through it. The natural Citrine is the crystal on the right.

COMMON vs NATURAL CITRINE QUARTZ


The energies of these two crystals are different and below is a guide to how to use each one.

NATURAL CITRINE

Is most useful for those who feel deep down that they are undeserving of material wealth and abundance. Natural Citrine can help them to be more open to the energies of manifestation and to have the courage to take decisive action towards their desires and stop them from 'shooting themselves in the foot' when opportunities are presented to them.

COMMON CITRINE

This crystal is wonderful for those who have a tendancy towards negativity and 'doom and gloom', it lifts dark moonds and thought patterns, encouraging optimism. It is also useful for those who say yes when they really mean no, as it helps them to have the willpower to set clear boundaries and stick to them.

GREEN MOONSTONE - New in.....

GREEN MOONSTONE


Green Moonstone is a fairly uncommon colour of this wonderfully feminine crystal, the Green Moonstone available at Quirky Quartz has been sourced from India.

It resonates strongly with the Heart Chakra and is particularly useful for those who have low self-esteem or have become bitter and closed due to being hurt by others. SERPENTINE - NEW IN...

Serpentine is a magnesium silicate mineral, it is a fairly soft stone, coming in at 3-5 on the Mohs scale, so will scratch easily. It is a common and widely available crystal and comes in a variety of colours depending on it's source. The Serpentine at Quirky Quartz comes from Brazil.

This stone is strongly associated with 'Serpent Power' or kundalini energy, which is found at the base of the spine, wrapped three and a half times around the sacrum. Serpentine is the great awakener of kundalini energy, drawing it up through each of the Chakras, activating and clearing them, eventually emerging out of the Crown Chakra, enabling a sense of enlightenment. This powerful stone not only stimulates the 'Serpent Power' but also supports the system as it travels through. To achieve this, place a piece of Serpentine on the Base Chakra to awaken the serpent and then another on the Crown Chakra to draw it up the spine. Imbolc is a Cross Quarter festival that celebrates the reawakening of Mother Nature, fertility and manifestation, when the Triple Goddess sheds her dark cloak of the Crone and wraps herself in the white mantle of the Maiden. There are various traditions to when it is celebrated, for those who call this festival Candlemas it is celebrated on Feb 1st. However other Celtic traditions celebrate on the February New Moon, or when the first snowdrops bloom.

It is a time to clear out the old after winter and make plans and wishes for what you would like to manifest in your life in the coming months of warmth and light.

TOURMALINED QUARTZ

This is a combination crystal of Clear Quartz with inclusions of Black Tourmaline. It is mainly sourced from Brazil and can range from a clear to cloudy Quartz with only a few strands of Tourmaline to so much that it turns the stone nearly black.

FLINT - The forgotten crystal

FLINT

Flint is a sedimentary rock made of Quartz and Chalcedony, which has been formed from  a mixture of silica (sea shells) and sea fungi in ancient sea beds. It is also known by other names such as - fairy shot, elf arrow, thunderstone and adder stone. It is freely available, I found the piece below in my garden.
It is generally overlooked as a power stone, which is a shame. However, our ancestors who weren't jaded by the glitz and glamour of our modern world, held Flint in great esteem as a powerful amulet for protection, especially from mischievous Earth spirits such as Fairies and Sprites, but also from others who may wish to cause them harm physically or psychically. Native Indians thought that flint, with it's resemblance to bones, could help them draw on the power of their ancestors and Shamans would use it for healing broken bones and to drive out night terrors and visions.

It has a grounding  and Saturnian energy and is said to energise the entire Chakra system.
