Imbolc is a Cross Quarter festival that celebrates the reawakening of Mother Nature, fertility and manifestation, when the Triple Goddess sheds her dark cloak of the Crone and wraps herself in the white mantle of the Maiden. There are various traditions to when it is celebrated, for those who call this festival Candlemas it is celebrated on Feb 1st. However other Celtic traditions celebrate on the February New Moon, or when the first snowdrops bloom.
It is a time to clear out the old after winter and make plans and wishes for what you would like to manifest in your life in the coming months of warmth and light.

In addition to white candles, spring bulbs, flowers and budded twigs (especially Willow) and ginger root, here are some suggestion of crystals to place on your Imbolc altar, that symbolise new beginnings.
Snow Quartz is a stone of innocence and purity, it can instill a feeling of seeing the world with fresh eyes.
Helps to clear and activate the Third Eye and Crown chakras so that you can tap more easily into your intuition and spirit guides, and draw in help and wisdom for your new intentions, especially if you would like to move on from addictions or leave behind situations that have been causing you pain.
Natural Citrine is the great manifestor, and can assist you in finding the resolve to keep true to the path you are planning at this time. It is warming and can help you to draw in abundance and good fortune in the coming months.
Moonstone is the gem of the Godess and fertility, and can help you to tap into the feminine energies that this festival celebrates.
Carnelian is a fire stone and symbolises the Sun which is starting to warm the planet in the Northern Hemisphere and the sexual energy which is now rising within the animal kingdom and nature.
Orange calcite is a stone of fun and happiness, with an uplifting energy that can draw in prosperity and abundance. It energises not only the physical body, but also the mind, and is perfect for when you want to be creative, especially in a playful, light-hearted way.
